Team Falken Supports Global ReLeaf at Long Beach

The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón and its environmental partner, American Forests, provided Team Falken Tire with the second tree of the season at the Tequila Patrón American Le Mans Series at Long Beach last weekend as part of its Global ReLeaf campaign.

In preparation for Earth Day and in support of the Series’ off-track green initiatives, Team Falken Tire placed a “Survivor” Elm tree on display outside its team transporter in the paddock. The team’s fans were greeted by the tree as Wolf Henzler and Bryan Sellers qualified second in class and finished sixth on Saturday in GT, less than a second from a top-five standing.

With a storied history rooted in environmental responsibility and commitment, Team Falken Tire, celebrates its 100th anniversary of planting trees in communities near its Fontana, California headquarters which is about an hour away from the Long Beach street circuit. The Elm tree will be an addition to the team’s pledge to plant one million trees around the world by 2029, to help restore damaged ecosystems and protect the climate.

Through support of the Series’ teams such as Team Falken Tire and fans, the Series strives to plant over 5,000 trees in the USA to restore ecosystems during 2010.

15th Anniversary of the Survivor Tree

The tree adopted by Team Falken Tire came from a seed from the very tree that stands as a memorial to the Oklahoma City bombing on April 19, 1995.

“The original tree still stands as an important symbol of human resilience, and a tribute to renewal and rebirth,” according to American Forests.

Celebrate Earth Day

Donate Today: “At American Forests we welcome this 40th Anniversary of Earth Day as a time to celebrate the environment and raise awareness about the importance of trees for environmental services such as clean air, clean water and biodiversity,” said acting executive director Gerry Gray. “On Earth Day, we encourage people to plant trees of their own, and if you’re not able to plant a tree yourself, visit us online at http://www.americanforests.org/ and donate to one of our many extraordinary tree planting projects across the U.S. and around the world.”
